Blog Series: Moving to the Next Level—Preparing for Life After QuickBooks (Post 4 of 5)
Today, companies looking to make the move to a life after QuickBooks have a much deeper selection than companies did five to 10 years ago.
In the past, there were only on-premise alternative for companies that had outgrown QuickBooks. This meant that in addition to purchasing a new, more expensive software license, it also meant purchasing or upgrading servers and databases. The cost of moving could suddenly become far more expensive than anticipated.
Today, the server, database, and infrastructure costs may not be a requisite. Financial accounting software that is cloud-based has made graduating from QuickBooks easier and less costly than in the past. With a cloud-based solution, the vendor takes on all the information technology cost and risk. All you need is access to the Internet and a web browser.
The expansion of the Cloud has not only given companies more choices for their next solutions, but it has also made it much easier to transition. Most cloud-based accounting applications can be up and ready to begin configuring solutiosn to meet company needs in hours, if not minutes. In most cases, the era of long waits and even longer implementations for new accounting software is gone.
Massey Consulting has assisted many businesses graduating from QuickBooks. The cloud-based solution we recommend is Intacct Financial Accounting (which is also recommended by Intuit and the AICPA). The market, as we stated however, is full of choices and we encourage companies to do research prior to selecting software that is right for them.
