NCACPA Committees offer members the opportunity to serve as important liaisons with other professionals and the general public. Committees and the Board of Directors interact with the AICPA, NC State Board of CPA Examiners, Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Internal Revenue Service, and other bodies that shape state and national standards. These groups are state-wide.
Accounting & Attestation (A&A) Committee
The mission of the A&A Committee is to support and enhance the quality of accounting and attestation services provided by members of NCACPA. The mission shall be accomplished by supporting members with timely educational, professional networking opportunities, technical resources, as well as local and national advocacy efforts.
Accounting Education Committee
The Accounting Education Conference Committee supports the development of accounting education and research, while attempting to improve the basic accounting education levels of people entering the profession. It also hosts an annual Accounting Education Forum and assists in selecting winners for NC CPA Foundation Scholarships.
Advocacy Advisory Council
The Advocacy Advisory Council is comprised of CPA members from across the profession, responsible for the identification and oversight of nonpartisan efforts to protect and advance the interests of the CPA profession and the state’s business community. The Council is also responsible for overseeing financial activities of the NC CPA Political Action Committee and encouraging member participation in advocacy for the profession.

Business & Industry Committee
The mission of the Members in Business and Industry Conference Committee is to ensure the association continues to be responsive to the needs of members in industry, education, and government. Another of its goals is to stimulate interest among CPAs in industry, maintain their professional status, and to actively participate in Association programs. It also plans and conducts semi-annual Members in Business & Industry Conferences.
Current & Emerging Technology Council (CETC)
CETC is responsible for identifying, evaluating and recommending what current and emerging technologies are most impactful to members of NCACPA. The CETC will provide invaluable assistance and counsel to NCACPA in prioritizing these initiatives and determining the appropriate group of stakeholders.

Employee Benefit Plans Committee
The mission of the Employee Benefits Plans Committee is to support and grow members through outreach efforts, timely educational opportunities, technical resources, and local and national advocacy efforts related to employee benefit plans.
Governmental Accounting & Auditing Committee
The Governmental Accounting and Auditing Committee (GAA) attempts to further recognition and development of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as auditing standards and procedures for government entities. The committee responds to exposure drafts, informs members of new standards, and plans governmental CPE programs offered by NCACPA.
Healthcare Industry Conference Committee
The mission of the Healthcare Industry Conference Committee is to keep members informed of developments concerning CPA services to the healthcare industry, as well as state and federal regulations affecting this area. It also coordinates healthcare-based CPE offerings catering to industry professionals.
Membership Committee
Our mission is to measure and monitor member engagement to better understand how and why our members get involved. Our objective is to make recommendations for opportunities to increase member engagement in the association.
Not-for-Profit Committee
The mission of the Not-for-Profit Committee is to be the voice of NCACPA’s membership in issues relating to not-for-profit accounting through education, advocacy, and outreach.
Peer Review Committee
The mission of NCACPA’s Peer Review Committee is to efficiently, effectively, and equitably oversee the administration, acceptance, and completion of peer reviews for members and non-members.
Professional Development Advisory Council
The Professional Development Advisory Council (PDAC) serves as strategic advisors to the NCACPA Professional Development team and the Board of Directors. The councils objectives will be to assist in the identification and management of potential risks, brainstorm and discuss new trends in adult learning, and provide advice on potential business opportunities including high-level infrastructure needs. The structure of the PDAC is a selected group of 8-10 members, who serve a three year term. New members will be nominated either by members of the PDAC or staff members, and will be appointed to fill departing members at the beginning of the calendar year.
Student Outreach, Advancement, and Recruitment Committee (SOAR)
The mission of the Student Outreach, Advancement, and Recruitment Committee focuses on identifying the needs of accounting students and connecting those needs to association efforts and activities. This committee will also work to promote the CPA profession to students of all ages to increase awareness for future generations.
Symposium Conference Committee
The mission of the Symposium Conference Committee is to develop program content for the 50 sessions which make up the association’s flagship event—the Annual Symposium; a three-day event averaging 900 participants, 25 sponsors, and sessions presented by nationally recognized speakers and industry professionals.
Taxation Committee
The Taxation Committee’s mission is to further the development of fair and reasonable systems of taxation at the federal, state, and local levels. It attempts to increase members’ awareness of the responsibilities and opportunities for service in the various areas of taxation, while enhancing the public’s understanding of the CPA’s special competence in the field of taxation. Additionally, it plans and conducts an annual meeting with the IRS and the NC Department of Revenue, and interacts with law makers and other organizations such as the NC Secretary of State and AICPA to provide input on taxation and related matters.
Young Professionals Cabinet
The Young Professionals Cabinet’s description and goal is to provide young professionals with networking, community outreach, leadership development, and diverse opportunities. It also seeks ways to enhance the value of association membership for young members, increase membership and connections within the association, and inform the leadership of topics relevant to young members.
Their mission is to personally engage young professionals by promoting and aiding their involvement and development in the accounting profession.
