Women’s Equality Day, celebrated annually on August 26, marks the anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment which granted women the right to vote. Today, as we commemorate the efforts of groundbreaking activists, let’s also take a few simple steps to prepare for the upcoming election.
The North Carolina State Board of Election’s website has information on registering to vote, updating voter registration address, and updating party affiliation. For the 2020 elections, there will be three voting options available: absentee by-mail, in-person early voting, and Election Day voting. The Board of Election has a special coronavirus resource center that has an especially helpful PDF entitled “10 Facts About Voting in North Carolina During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
Please join in encouraging your staff, family, and friends to visit these websites and ensure they’re prepared to exercise their right to vote.
