As part of our centennial celebration in 2019, work began to ensure the future sustainability of the association. A Governance & Effectiveness Task Force refined our strategic initiatives and process; a DEI Definition Task Force defined what DEI means for NCACPA, which now sits squarely in the middle of our strategic roadmap; the vision and mission statements were refreshed; and most recently, the Committee Restructure Task Force (CRTF) studied the optimal structure to align volunteer efforts with strategy.
The CRTF identified unfilled opportunities to meet the evolving needs of accounting professionals. It became evident the current committee structure needed to be better aligned with the association’s vision, mission, and strategic initiatives. The new structure will:
- Align the volunteer activities with the association’s strategy
- Expand and enhance the market-facing activities of the association
- Expand the influence of NCACPA
NCACPA hosted a virtual Town Hall on Wednesday, July 21 and shared important updates on the future of volunteerism within the association. A recording of the Town Hall can be found at this link. Shawana Hudson, CPA, MSA, Chair of the Board, was joined by D. Scott Showalter, CPA, CGMA, chair of the CRTF; CEO Sharon Bryson, M.Ed.; and COO Mark Soticheck, CPA, CGMA.
An online toolkit has been curated to aid in your understanding of the new volunteer structure and for communicating with both current and prospective committee/networking group members.
Members are also encouraged to read Scott’s comprehensive article about the changes, which was featured in the Summer 2021 issue of Interim Report.
