Yesterday afternoon, Governor Cooper announced Executive Order 135, which extends North Carolina’s current stay-at-home order through Friday, May 8. Businesses deemed essential under the previous order can continue to operate. However, restrictions on restaurants and other close-contact businesses remain in effect.
During a press conference, the Governor also laid out his three-phase plan for moving North Carolina forward and lifting restrictions. Governor Cooper and Department of Health and Human Services Sec. Mandy Cohen shared specifics that rely on key data metrics related to testing, tracing and trends.
“The health and safety of people in North Carolina must be our top priority,” Governor Cooper said. “This plan provides a roadmap for us to easing restrictions in stages to push our economy forward.”
Details about the staggered phases and key metrics can be found in the Governor’s press release linked here.
