On Monday, August 29, NCACPA held a meeting between its Tax Modernization Task Force and representatives from the North Carolina Department of Revenue. It was a great opportunity for the association establish itself as a trusted resource to the Department, particularly as the DOR continues to work through complexities in the RMI sales tax area. The meeting also served to strengthen the relationship between the DOR and NCACPA so that we can continue to stay in communication on issues that impact the profession.
In addition, members of the Tax Modernization Task Force will participate in a separate meeting on September 7 hosted by the DOR. The DOR has described this meeting as an informal working group to ensure they are addressing the appropriate concerns before issuing Directives and Important Notices on the changes to RMI.
NCACPA has collected and summarized a great deal of member feedback regarding complexities with taxation of RMI services, and much of this input was reviewed in the meeting held this past Monday at the NCACPA office. The meeting was very productive, and the DOR looks forward to continuing to seek counsel on these issues from our members and the task force.
Forming relationships such as this are critical in maintaining the best interests of our members, as well as the clients and businesses they serve.
Thank you to not only our Tax Modernization Task Force, but also to all of you who provided input to help inform this important conversation.
