The North Carolina Department of Revenue plans to announce that it will expand the April 15 tax filing and payment deadline extension to May 17, 2021 to include partnerships and estates and trusts. The previous extension notice applied to individual taxpayers only.
The NCDOR plans to release the notice on Monday, April 5. The notice is a draft and is subject to change.
The notice will also include an announcement that the NCDOR will waive penalties for failure to file and failure to pay. NCACPA is advocating for legislative approval to waive interest, which the NCDOR does not have statutory authority to grant independently.
