NCACPA’s annual CPA Day of Service is quickly approaching! In less than a month, CPAs from across the state will be working together to make an impact on North Carolina. On September 19, we will be presented with an opportunity to give back and help those within our communities.
Each chapter has worked to develop a volunteer event to participate in as a group, but what you may not know is that there are additional opportunities! The Charlotte Chapter has organized eight different volunteer organizations for individuals to join and volunteer with other members.
Below are links to the organizations you can volunteer for along with a short description of how you can help:
Loaves & Fishes:
Mission: It is our vision for all people in our community to meet their basic hunger needs by having access to nutritious food.
Opportunity: Volunteers will help the hungry in the community by organizing food and helping host an online food drive.
Crisis Assistance Ministry:
Mission: To inspire our community to justice and generosity as we provide help, hope and understanding to people struggling with limited financial resources.
Opportunity: As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to help by receiving, sorting, folding, and hanging incoming donations.
A Child’s Place:
Mission: A Child’s Place works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.
Opportunity: Volunteers will help assemble baskets with snacks and donations to be delivered to homeless children in the community.
Habitat for Humanity:
Mission: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Opportunity: Volunteers will assist customers and organize the ReStore.
Cabarrus County Humane Society:
Mission: The mission of the Humane Society of Concord & Greater Cabarrus County, NC is to end animal suffering and cruelty, reduce overpopulation and educate the public regarding responsible animal ownership.
Opportunity: Volunteers will work with the animals at the shelter by walking dogs and cleaning the building.
Beds for Kids:
Mission: To provide a bed and other essential furniture to every child and family in need in Charlotte.
Opportunity: Volunteers will help needy families in Charlotte by cleaning, organizing, and moving donations received.
Ronald McDonald House:
Mission: To provide the families of children being treated in area medical facilities with a safe, affordable, and caring “home away from home.”
Opportunity: Volunteers will assist those at the house by cleaning the living areas, washing cars, or preparing meals for families.
Project Night Night:
Mission: To provide Night Night Packages, free of charge, to homeless children from birt to pre-teen who need our childhood essentials to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant.
Opportunity: Volunteers will organize and fill baskets with donations collected.
