Blog Series: Moving to the Next Level—Preparing for Life After QuickBooks (Post 2 of 5)
As your business grows, the demand for more information and access grows. QuickBooks, while serving you well in the past, may sputter and falter as you become more sophisticated with the evolving demands of your business. It’s natural you want more enhanced visibility of the growing areas of your business. You and your team are facing more demands and probably want to look at automating key processes while enforcing internal controls, or perhaps customizing certain functionality, and looking for ways to integrate other software solutions (for financial accounting) within the company.
We see this all the time.
Here are some steps to take to prepare for life after QuickBooks:
- Calculate the cost of the status quo—what are the hidden costs of continuing to do things the way you are doing them? The cost of people’s time? The lost opportunity when information is not available or difficult to access?
- Evaluate alternative software solutions. Massey Consulting can help you with this. What are the available solutions that address your business needs now and in the future?
- Compare the cost (time, money, lost opportunity) of your current situation with an investment in a new system.
- Determine the best time to change, avoiding conflicts with busy season, staff availability, etc. This will help you determine deadlines and milestones. It will also help to ensure a smooth implementation.
